Futbal má svoje korene v hrách, ktoré sa hrali kolektívne medzi dvoma skupinami hráčov. Pri tejto hre sa používala lopta zošitá z rôznych kúskov kože, do ktorej sa kopalo nohami. Poznali ju už v starej Číne okolo roku 2700 pred naším letopočtom. Hra sa zdokonaľovala až do konca stredoveku, keď sa už hráči snažili loptu vypchatú slamou dostať do brány napriek odporu obrancov. Na tieto účely slúžila mestská alebo domová brána. Pravidlá hry neexistovali. Občas sa pri hre poškodila budova, prípadne sa niekto zranil, niekedy aj smrteľne. V roku 1855 bol v Sheffielde založený prvý futbalový klub, ktorý už mal svoje pravidlá hry. Tieto sú veľmi podobné dnešným. 37 miliárd divákov pred televízormi na celom svete boli pri tom, keď od 10. júna do 12. júla 1998 prebiehal posledný svetový turnaj tisícročia. 12 000 novinárov z celého sveta, medzi nimi 3 200 reportérov, 4 000 rozhlasových a televíznych komentátorov a okrem nich ešte 900 fotografov, to je bilancia Majstrovstiev sveta vo futbale v roku 1998.

Beim Schleifen steht die Einhaltung der Mindestanforderung für die gefertigte Qualität bei möglichst kurzen Prozesszykluszeiten und damit hohen Zeitspanungsvolumina und hoher Wirtschaftlichkeit im Mittelpunkt des Interesses. Um ein effektive Kühlschmierstoffzufuhr (KSS) zu gewährleisten, sind systematische Untersuchungen des KSS-Zufuhrsystems und der Strömungsverhältnisse im Schleifspalt notwendig. Von großem Interesse ist in diesem Zusammenhang die Abschätzung des KSS-Volumenstroms, der zur Einhaltung einer vorgegebenen Werkstückqualität erforderlich ist, sowie die Erarbeitung einer zuverlässigen Bewertungsmethodik zur Kühlschmierstoff-Versorgung im Schleifspalt. Mittels Durchflussmessung und Druckmessung im Schleifspalt erfolgt eine Charakterisierung der Strömungsverhältnisse in der Kontaktzone Schleifscheibe/Werkstück. Die Untersuchungen zum Einfluss von Stellgrößen und Zufuhrbedingungen auf die Versorgung des Schleifspalts mit KSS zeigen eine deutliche Abhängigkeit von der Schnittgeschwindigkeit, der Zustellung und des zugeführten KSS-Volumenstroms sowie des Schleifwerkzeugs. Die unterschiedlichen Auswertemethoden der Versuche die mit kontinuierlich steigender Zustellung geschliffen wurden, zeigen, dass die Beurteilung der thermischen Randzonenbeeinflussung mittels der Eigenspannungsanalyse in der Werkstückrandzone am schnellsten und am sensibelsten anspricht.
