    Vladimir Tismăneanu je rumunský a americký politológ, politický analytik, sociológ a profesor. Je špecialistom na politické systémy a komparatívnu politológiu a riaditeľom Centra pre štúdium postkomunistických spoločností na University of Maryland. V priebehu rokov prispieval do viacerých periodík a spolupracoval s medzinárodnými rozhlasovými stanicami a rumunskou televíziou. Jeho práca sa zameriava na hlboké pochopenie politických systémov a ich vývoja, najmä v postkomunistickom kontexte.

      The tenth anniversary of the collapse of communism in Central and Eastern Europe is the basis for this text which reflects upon the past ten years and what lies ahead for the future. An international group of academics and public intellectuals, including former dissidents and active politicians, engage in an exchange on the antecedents, causes, contexts, meanings and legacies of the 1989 revolutions.
