Na príčine nie je len hromadné vybíjanie bizónov, ktoré sú jediným zdrojom obživy pôvodných obyvateľov, ale aj snaha bielych umiestniť Indiánov do rezervácií...

Tanec s vlkmi, najúspešnejší film roku 1990, získal sedem Oskarov a milióny divákov na celom svete. Knižná podoba tohto príbehu nijako nezaostáva za jeho filmovým spracovaním. Sugestívne zachytáva atmosféru nedotknutej rozľahlej prérie a život indiánskeho kmeňa Komančov. Hlavný hrdina poručík Dunbar má pripraviť pôdu pre vstup bielych dobyvateľov na indiánske územie, no po zoznámení sa s ich životnou filozofiou, vychádzajúcou z poznania prírodných zákonov, sa spreneverí svojmu poslaniu a stane sa jedným z nich. Na jeho rozhodnutí má svoj podiel i láska k bielej Komančke. A hoci expanzii belochov zabrániť nemôže, uvedomuje si, kde je jeho miesto a na ktorej strane treba hľadať pravdu.
