Joel Chandler Harris bol americký novinár a spisovateľ, ktorý sa preslávil najmä svojimi príbehmi strýka Remusa. Jeho diela čerpali z africko-americkej ústnej rozprávkovej tradície a boli priekopnícke v používaní dialektu a v postave prefíkaného hrdinu brata Zajačika. Brat Zajačik sa snaží pomocou svojej šikovnosti prekonať nepriazeň osudu, aj keď nie vždy s úspechom.
