Tycho Brahe bol dánsky šľachtic a astronóm, preslávený svojimi presnými a rozsiahlymi astronomickými pozorovaniami. Vydal dielo, ktoré spochybnilo vtedajšie aristotelovské a Ptolemaiovské chápanie nebeskej dokonalosti a nemennosti. Tycho Brahe sa snažil spojiť geometrické výhody Kopernikovho systému s filozofickými výhodami Ptolemaiovho systému do svojho vlastného modelu vesmíru, známeho ako Tychonický systém. Jeho pozorovania slúžili jeho asistentovi Johannesovi Keplerovi na odvoden ie zákonov pohybu planét. Nikto pred ním sa nepokúsil vykonať toľko planetárnych pozorovaní.
