By examining the term GammaGamma and its derivatives from a wide-ranging corpus spanning from the second millennium BC to the fourth century BC, the study uncovers how news was perceived in Ancient Greece. It highlights the evolution of news as a social institution and identifies parallels with contemporary issues, including the prevalence of false news, enriching both Classics and journalism studies.
