In the stunning setting of the Vienna Opera, a young talented singer named Alina performs the role of the fiery Carmen when an incomprehensible and utterly absurd murder of one of the chorus members occurs, followed shortly by another. The director, who loves the Opera as his own child, is taken aback and justifiably anticipates attacks on his character. He becomes a suspect, especially since one of the victims is his mistress, Karolina. Did he truly commit the murders? Or could it have been the young theater doctor, Corelli? This well-structured, engaging story set in the attractive milieu of artistic Vienna is filled with insightful psychological observations and an unexpected resolution, crafted by an Austrian writer who is well-acquainted with the realities he describes, as he is also an actor and director in film and television.
