A bitter social comedy unfolds as Florence, a 32-year-old beauty who knows her worth, strives for happiness. Despite her numerous sexual encounters, she finds little joy in them. Her dream is to marry a wealthy man to gain social status and a comfortable life. So far, her suitors have not met her expectations, but she remains hopeful. On a hot summer day, she heads to Long Island to spend the weekend with her friend Natalie, where things seem to take a turn for the better. A millionaire, Charlie, shows interest, an arrogant Italian playboy pursues her, and her ex-lover Darryl, a brilliant lawyer, rekindles his interest. However, chaos ensues: the hostess treats her like a servant, the host harasses her, she becomes embroiled in a risky business deal, and a mishap with the toilet leads to further disorder. Ultimately, a scandal erupts, landing in the newspapers, as a young woman becomes a victim of her own cynicism amidst a ruthless portrayal of the beautiful and wealthy in New York.
