Two days after turning eighteen, Kenny Imafidon was charged with the murder of a seventeen-year-old boy in south-east London. Growing up in Peckham, he was the middle child of a single mother with aspirations for her children, surrounded by deprivation and gang culture. Facing a minimum of thirty years in prison—longer than his life—Kenny's case collapsed, yet his name remained tied to the crime he didn't commit. Determined to rewrite his narrative, he initiated The Kenny Report, presented to the House of Commons, highlighting the experiences of marginalized youth drawn into gangs. This report catalyzed extensive collaboration with charities, communities, and policymakers, aiming to reshape the stories of young people like him. Offering a candid perspective on pressing societal issues, this personal manifesto delves into the realities of being young, Black, and poor in the city. It reflects on Kenny's challenging upbringing, transformative prison experience, and the influential people and conversations that guided him from facing murder charges to engaging with some of the world's most successful individuals.
