Kenny Bomar, a biochemist turned coffee shop owner, struggles with grief over his stillborn daughter and his crumbling marriage, resorting to extreme coping mechanisms involving dangerous chemicals. His actions inadvertently affect those around him as he becomes increasingly isolated. Simultaneously, Black epidemiologists Retta and Ebonee investigate a mysterious substance linked to a high school girl's death, leading them on a journey of blame and retribution. Their paths intertwine, culminating in a dramatic and interconnected resolution.
