The story unfolds on a small island plagued by tragedy as countless bodies wash ashore from sunken ships filled with desperate refugees. Among them is Amir, a nine-year-old Syrian boy who survives the perilous journey. He encounters Vèanna, a disillusioned teenage girl from the island, who grapples with her own feelings of homelessness. Despite their language barrier and initial unfamiliarity, Vèanna is resolute in her mission to protect Amir, highlighting themes of compassion, survival, and the bond formed in the face of adversity.
