Struggling with her identity, Mia feels out of place in her Jewish home and school while longing for her Muscogee heritage. Her relationship with her mother and stepfather is complicated, especially as her mother avoids discussing her Muscogee father, who now has a new family in Oklahoma. Driven by a desire to connect with her roots, Mia secretly plans a bus trip to visit her dad, hoping to discover the missing piece of herself that intertwines her Jewish and Muscogee identities.
