Viac o knihe

From his 1992 graduate collection, "Jack the Ripper Stalks His Victims," to his final show inspired by Plato's Atlantis in 2010, Lee Alexander McQueen was renowned for his exquisite tailoring, meticulous craftsmanship, and stunning originality. He was equally known for his theatrical and often controversial runway shows. McQueen drew inspiration from a wide array of sources, including his Scottish heritage, Alfred Hitchcock films, Yoruba mythology, and environmental destruction, as well as the fashion industry itself. Central to each collection was the concept for the runway show, which was crucial to its development. Each presentation told a story, staged with dramatic flair. Notable shows included "Highland Rape," featuring disheveled models smeared with "blood," and "Scanners," where robots sprayed paint on a model on a spinning platform. In "Widows of Culloden," a hologram of Kate Moss took center stage. Other memorable moments included models walking through water, drifting snowflakes, and performing in a Depression-era marathon. Illustrated with stunning photography and enriched with quotes from McQueen and those close to him, this account chronicles the designer's thirty-five runway shows and the genius behind them.
