Viac o knihe
What is more familiar than the metro? How could an ethnological perspective, accustomed to reporting on distant practices, shed light on what occurs there? This is the challenge Marc Augé undertakes in this work, revealing all that the metro holds in terms of conventions, rites, and institutions. It also serves as an opportunity for a meandering presentation of the main classical themes of anthropology, from Marcel Mauss's "total social fact" to the question of the symbolic, including the issue of the "average individual." The inaugural book of an "ethnology of the near."
