Set during Holy Week in Las Penas, New Mexico, the story follows Amadeo Padilla, an unemployed man cast as Jesus in the local Good Friday procession. His preparations for this significant role are abruptly interrupted when his pregnant fifteen-year-old daughter, Angel, arrives at his doorstep after fleeing her mother's home. As Angel embraces her new reality, the narrative explores themes of redemption, familial responsibility, and the challenges of unexpected life changes.
