Adult psychopathology and diagnosis

Viac o knihe

Revised to reflect significant changes in the field, this textbook provides a thorough overview of major diagnostic categories of adult psychiatric disorders using DSM nomenclature. Since publication of the first edition in 1984, DSM-III-R has appeared; DSM-IV is anticipated; data has been adduced in support of existing diagnostic categories; and new semi-structured and structured interview schedules have been developed. Taking full account of these changes, it contains 17 chapters, 10 of them totally new and the remainder substantially revised. Divided into three parts, the text begins with an overview of models of psychiatric classification and practical use of DSM-III-R. The second part offers a detailed clinical picture of specific syndromes, covering crucial diagnostic criteria, major theories of etiology and emphasis on assessment and measurement of behavior comprising the syndrome. Closes with a discussion of special topics related to DSM-III-R.
