Viac o knihe
Night in Bombay (1940) is a romantic tale that helps a beautiful, pleasure-seeking woman, bored by wealth, an empty life, and the attention of men, find meaning in life through the purity and strength of love. In Bombay, the largest Indian port, where elements of Western and Eastern civilization blend, a group of adventurers from around the world gathers, trying to escape boredom in gambling dens, bars, horse races, and parties hosted by a wealthy and decadent maharaja. Their small personal dramas unfold, intrigues are hatched, and complex relationships intertwine, but each of these individuals seeks an escape from the carousel of boredom and moral emptiness. In sharp contrast to these castaways and empty hedonists are those who have discovered the meaning of their lives in working for India, whose diverse society and rich yet cruel nature they have come to love.
