Focusing on translation into a second language, this study challenges the notion of deficiency in L2 output by framing it within an interlanguage context. It presents L2 translation as a unique form of second language acquisition, highlighting the development of translation competence through case studies. Key components identified include the creation of stylistically authentic texts, monitoring and editing skills, and the psychological attitudes of translators. This work offers a fresh perspective on the complexities of learning to translate effectively.
