It highlights the city’s unique immigrant history and the ongoing efforts to preserve these languages, each with its own cultural significance. Through personal stories, the author reveals the challenges faced by speakers of languages like Seke, N'ko, Lenape, Nahuatl, Wakhi, and Yiddish. The narrative also addresses the alarming decline of linguistic diversity and the impact of dominant languages, emphasizing the urgent need for preservation.
