The narrative follows Wassaja, a Native American boy from the Yavapai tribe, who is kidnapped and sold into slavery. Adopted by an Italian photographer in 1871, he becomes Carlos Montezuma and journeys through the Old West. Throughout his travels, he observes and experiences the prejudice and mistreatment faced by Native Americans, highlighting themes of identity, resilience, and social injustice.
