The story follows two teenage siblings stranded on a desolate rock in New Zealand after a storm disables their boat. With no navigation tools and limited resources, they must rely on the wisdom of their Māori ancestry and their own ingenuity. Drawing from lessons taught by their grandparents, they blend traditional navigation techniques with basic science to survive. As they design and build a new boat, the siblings embark on a challenging journey to sail a thousand kilometers back home, highlighting themes of resilience and cultural heritage.
