Cecilia Rodriguez Aragon, the daughter of a Chilean father and a Filipina mother, grew up as a shy child in a small midwestern town during the 1960s. This feeling lingered into her twenties when she faced discouragement in pursuing science and aviation due to gender stereotypes. However, in just six years, Cecilia became the first Latina pilot on the United States Unlimited Aerobatic Team, earning the chance to compete at the World Aerobatic Championships. She overcame her fears using mathematical techniques, performing at air shows and teaching others to fly. Cecilia learned to fundraise for competitions and worked as a test pilot, contributing to experimental airplane designs. She defied the prejudices surrounding her race and gender, proving that limitations can be surpassed.
