The 300th anniversary of the monarch Maria Theresa provides an opportunity to explore her particular interest in the visual arts. At her invitation, numerous painters, sculptors, and other artists from both domestic and foreign backgrounds found a rich field of activity. Consequently, this era continues to shape the countries of the former Habsburg monarchy to this day.
