The Kama Sutra was written in the 3rd century, and is the basis for all later Indian writings about love. It teaches that love should be an ecstatic experience, but sexual happiness is only likely if both partners have a good understanding of sex. Therefore it includes comprehensive details about the practical aspects of sex with regard to love, pleasure and sexual gratification: kissing, embracing, congress, courtship and marriage.
