In 2009, they enlisted author John Leake to assist in their ongoing investigation. After two years of research, he uncovered shocking truths about Duncan's fate. This narrative details the MacPherson family's harrowing journey, characterized by love, perseverance, and an unyielding quest for the truth, despite a cover-up involving the ski resort, local police, and officials in Innsbruck. Leake's revelations inspired the documentary "A Cold Case," produced by Canada's fifth estate.
