Tato učebnice mezinárodního práva je dílem německy píšícího autora, profesora Ignaze Seidl-Hohenveldern (nar. v Šumperku v roce 1918), jednoho z nejvýznamnějších odborníků v oboru mezinárodního práva, autora více než tří set vědeckých prací a desítek monografií. Tato učebnice není ani utopickou vizí o mezinárodním právu, ani apologeticky pojatou obhajobou praktických kroků mezinárodní politiky, ale právně vytříbeným textem, který nepodléhá ani módním vlivům, ani politickému tlaku. Práce je doplněna bohatou kazualistikou a odkazy na světovou literaturu.

In this collection of essays, Ignaz Seidl-Hohenveldern has brought together materials, in English and in French, which until now have been accessible only to a small audience. The essays are divided into five sections, covering the following subjects: International Organizations, State Activities in the Economic Field, Protection of Investments, Settlement of International Economic Disputes and War. They reflect Seidl-Hohenveldern's unique insights, resulting from more than forty years of experience as an international lawyer. He has acted as an arbitrator in many ICC and ICSID arbitrations, and has fulfilled a number of functions within international organizations, inter alia as a member of UNRWA's Special Panel of Adjudicators (1983--1991), and as President of the UN Conference on Succession of State in respect of State Property, Archives and Debts.
