This volume offers an extensive review of plasticity theory, limit design, and limit analysis of plates. It provides detailed insights into the plastic behavior of homogeneous, reinforced, and sandwich plates, as well as the emergence of various yield-line patterns. Unlike other texts, it comprehensively addresses yield fans related to yield-line planning and the plastic behavior of plates under combined loadings characterized by load factors. The discussion includes statical solutions for continuous, rectangular, and skew plates. Before exploring upper-bound solutions for different ultimate loads on isotropic, orthotropic, and anisotropic plates, the text examines the kinematic conditions of plastic behavior and the principles of yield-line theory. It introduces generalized yield conditions of the second degree for orthotropic and anisotropic plates and emphasizes the formation of yield fans. The concept of yield line planning is addressed, highlighting ways to prevent yield fan development. Upper-bound and lower-bound solutions are provided for various load types, including uniform, concentrated, triangular, and trapezoidal loads, as well as for continuous loads on different surface geometries. Solutions cover plates on various support types, including hinged and free supports. Numerical tables are included to determine ultimate loads and bearing moments for specific load systems and yield-line patterns. This work serves a
