This publication is a timely and careful response to some of the opportunities and challenges that Zimbabwe is currently facing. The contributions are an outflow from the conference held in March 2015 in Harare, entitled „Assessing Progress in the Implementation of Zimbabwe’s New Constitution: National, Regional and Global Perspectives“. Also by drawing from comparative perspectives, the contributors, who include policy-makers, members of the judiciary, and constitutional law experts, both Zimbabwean and international, reflect among others on the challenge of constitutional alignment, the role of the civil and security services in a constitutional democracy and the role of institutions such as independent commissions and related institutions in entrenching a democratic culture and the rule of law. This publication aims to foster an open intellectual and legal dialogue on Zimbabwe’s new Constitution and what it means in daily practice for the people of Zimbabwe. Against the backdrop of the need for an increase in energy efficiency and a decrease in energy and resource utilisation, and for an economy that utilises fewer fossil raw materials and that relies more on renewable, environmentally friendly and natural resources, this publication gathers articles in the field of national and international policies and regulations concerning biofuels with a focus on southern Africa. Highlevel interdisciplinary research and topics of research include among others the science base for bioenergy and the presentation of examples of best practice. The finite nature of fossil raw materials and the necessity of climate protection call for a worldwide reform of energy and resource policies to promote the utilisation of renewable, natural resources. In this light, this publication makes a significant contribution with the intention to foster the dialogue on biofuels in southern Africa and beyond. Anhand einer rechtsvergleichenden Bestandsaufnahme (Deutschland, USA, Österreich, Italien, Frankreich und Slowakische Republik) untersucht diese Arbeit aus der Sicht des deutschen Rechts die Problemstellungen des Bildnisschutzes in unterschiedlichen nationalen Ausprägungen. Im nationalen und internationalen Wirkungsbereich der Medien, der kommerziellen Verwertung von Bildmaterial in Presse und Werbung begegnen uns ständig Fragen den Bildnisschutz betreffend. Als Ausprägung des Persönlichkeitsschutzes befindet sich der Bildnisschutz im andauernden Spannungsverhältnis zu den Medien. Zum einen werden in dieser Arbeit historische Entwicklungen des Bildnisschutzes erörtert, auch um aktuelle Streitstände besser verständlich zu machen; zum anderen werden einschlägige Gerichtsentscheidungen in den verschiedenen Rechtsordnungen erläutert und rechtsvergleichend untersucht. In diesem Zusammenhang werden die im jeweiligen Recht geltenden Rechtsfolgen bei Persönlichkeitsverletzungen des «Rechts am eigenen Bild» anhand aktueller Rechtsprechung rechtsvergleichend dargestellt und auf ihre Effektivität (z. B. Umfang von Schadensersatzbeträgen) überprüft.

Cameroon, a geostrategically significant Central African nation with rich natural resources, showcases a unique legal landscape influenced by British and French law alongside the customary laws of its diverse ethnic groups. This legal pluralism extends to environmental protection, reflecting the country's complex legal framework. The publication aligns with Cameroon’s bilingual language policy, featuring both English and French chapters. It explores Cameroonian environmental law and national policy within the context of international norms, addressing the African Union's environmental regulations and those of regional economic communities in Central Africa. Key topics include environmental management, water and land law, biodiversity conservation, resource protection, mining and energy law, climate change law, environmental justice, and the legal aspects of international trade and sustainable development. The work presents legal and political avenues for managing environmental interests in Africa, relevant for international development cooperation and economic exchange. Additionally, it serves as a foundational resource for comparative environmental law, featuring contributions from various experts in the field.

Dieser Band widmet sich der kolonialen Vergangenheit und Befreiung Afrikas, der rechtlichen und politischen Anthropologie, der neuen Rechtsarchitektur im modernen Afrika sowie Miszellen zu unterschiedlichen Themen. Er soll, indem er auf Recht aus dem Inneren der Gesellschaft aufmerksam macht, zu einem vertieften Verständnis des weltweit beobachtbaren Phänomens einer Pluralisierung der Rechtsordnungen beitragen.

Als interdisziplinäres Instrument außergerichtlicher Konfliktbeilegung gewinnt die Mediation in den vielfältigsten Bereichen von Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft zunehmend an Bedeutung. Der Verfasser beschäftigt sich in seiner Studie mit den für die Mediation relevanten rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen, Ausbildungsstandards und akademischen Ausbildungsmöglichkeiten in Deutschland, Österreich, der Schweiz und dem Fürstentum Liechtenstein.
