Roland Pfeiffer thematisiert in seiner Dissertation die Opere buffe von Giuseppe Sarti, die neben seiner sakralen Musik und den Opere serie bislang in der Forschung kaum Beachtung fanden. Doch gerade der zur Entstehungszeit enorme Erfolg dieser Opern zeichnet Sarti als einen bedeutenden Komponisten der Opera buffa im 18. Jahrhundert aus. Besonders die Arien Sartis gelten als Muster außergewöhnlicher Formen. Sarti arbeitete mit verschiedenen Stilebenen und entwickelte wegweisende Präferenzen.
