Happy Shiny People is a series of dark tableaux vivants, which challenge the lies that underpin our society. The short stories deal with casual brutality, the illusion of the „free market“, the abuse of power, the corruption of ideals, questions of personal identity, the superficiality of a world governed by the media, political dissent and sibling rivalry. The short stories cast a diagnostic glance at the seemingly shiny, brilliant world in which we live and call many of society's most cherished assumptions into question.

This book is not about how evil either the Americans or Israelis are, which is how some might see it. This book is about both the causes and effects of Israeli and American policy. It is about the ideas, which underpin these policies and about the effects of these self-same policies on ordinary individuals. It is above all about how the narratives of Jews, Zionists and Palestinians are inextricably intertwined. It is a book about common humanity.
