Finálna časť rozsiahleho traktátu britského filozofa Henryho Sidgwicka (1838-1900) venovaného systematickej analýze a komparácii princípov morálky zdravého rozumu a moderných etických teórií. Jedno z najprepracovanejších diel anglofónnej analytickej morálnej filozofie si za cieľ kladie hľadanie harmónie metód etiky využívaných v bežnom morálnom uvažovaní bez kompromisov konfliktov, neistoty či náhodnosti. Popularita diela vychádza tiež z faktu, že ide o prvý dôkladný pokus rozvinúť utilitarizmus, najznámejšiu britskú etickú teóriu, vo vzťahu s poprednými etickými teóriami egoizmu a intuicionizmu a preukázať jeho prirodzenú prítomnosť v bežných morálnych úsudkoch. Predmetom prekladu Petra Gurského je tretia a štvrtá kniha 7. edície (1907). Preklad prvých dvoch kníh vyšiel pod názvom Metódy etiky I-II (2023).
