The study investigates the unresolved microscopic mechanism of High-Tc superconductivity, focusing on the unclear role of lattice vibrations. It combines experimental techniques, particularly Extended X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy (EXAFS), with a novel data analysis to directly assess nonlinearity in interatomic potentials within copper-oxide planes. The research culminates in a dynamical model that analytically and numerically explores the emergence of discrete breathers, highlighting significant anharmonic localized excitations relevant to nonlinear physics.
