Margaret Landonová bola americká autorka, ktorá sa preslávila svojim románom z roku 1944 o živote Anny Leonowens. Jej dielo sa stalo okamžitým bestsellerom a predalo sa ho cez milión výtlačkov. Landonová predala práva na muzikálovú adaptáciu, ktorá inšpirovala slávny muzikál. Neskôr vydala ďalšiu knihu o svojich vlastných skúsenostiach.
