Šestý a poslední díl románové ságy o osudech Périgorďana Petra ze Sioraku v době náboženských válek ve Francii koncem 16. století zabírá období od roku 1594, kdy Jindřich IV. konečně vstoupil jako král do Paříže, do roku 1599, po vydání Ediktu nantského (13. dubna. 1598), který měl zaručovat náboženskou svobodu. Siorac, nyní už markýz (a jeho věrný sluha Miroul, povýšený králem na rytíře z La Surie) opět koná nejrůznější poslání ve službách králi a často je spojuje se službami krásným dámám, jichž je vždy statečným ochráncem: pro krále získává město Remeš, účastní se boje se Španěly vedenými Mansfeldem a po návratu do Paříže zahajuje dlouhotrvající boj proti jezuitům, kteří jsou sice na jedné straně vzorem kázně, pokorné disciplíny a hlubokého vědění, ovšem jako spojenci Filipa II. Španělského představují uvnitř v zemi neustálou hrozbu. Siorac nechybí ani u intrik kolem Jindřichovy absoluce v Římě roku 1595. Účastní se ještě bojů se Španěly v letech 1597-1599 a po návratu do Paříže končí svou kariéru dvořana, ve které vydržel plných 27 let. Historii svého života dopsal Petr ze Sioraku 4. května 1610. Deset dní poté, 14. května 1610, byl před hostincem U srdce s korunou, probodnutého šípem (Au Coeur couronné percé d´une flèche) zavražděn král Jindřich IV., panovník, který první uzákonil ve Francii princip náboženské snášenlivosti.

Trinásťročná Anna Franková sa spolu s rodinou počas druhej svetovej vojny dva roky ukrývala v zadnej časti jednej budovy v Amsterdame. Tesne pred koncom vojny však padla za obeť nacistickému režimu. Anna si zapisovala udalosti od 12. júna 1942 do 1. augusta 1944 a zaznamenala všetko, čo sa okolo nej dialo, aj jednotlivé dni v úkryte. V atmosféře chátrajícího venkovského sídla uprostřed velké zahrady se odvíjí děj, v němž jsou přítomny láska i smrt, okouzlení i vystřízlivění, smutek i naděje. Děj se odehrává v rodině rozvedené matky, která svým novým sňatkem s bezohledným a bezzásadovým člověkem přivede rodinu až na okraj propasti. Vypravěčkou je mladší dcera, která se po maminčině smrti jen těžko vyprošťuje z nepřirozeného svazku, kterým ji její nevlastní otec spoutal.

Nepochybne zvláštny román sa dostáva do rúk slovenskému čitateľovi.
