Nordische Moderne in Schönbergs Wien um 1900 | Nordic Modernism in Schönberg's Vienna around 1900
Involvement with the art of Strindberg, Schönberg and Munch opens up the
breadths and abysses of the soul; the art bespeaks extreme mental states,
loneliness, fear, illness and experiences of death, combined with ghosts,
vampires and other visions. The three artists created their works out of inner
necessity by (in Strindberg's words) approximately copying Nature, especially
imitating its way of creating, or (in Schönberg's words) expressing themselves
directly or (in Munch's words) because of the need to experiment, develop and
improve. They distrusted superficial perception and turned their gaze inward
to grasp the intangible values of the subjective world. The present catalogue
is an attempt at detecting and presenting the affinities among the forms of
expression in music, painting and writing, as well as tracing the intellectual
kinship of the influential cultural milieus in Vienna and Northern Europe in
the years surrounding 1900.

Das Arnold Schönberg Center präsentierte von 12. März bis 30. August 2013 die
Ausstellung art is: new art. Reflexionen zu Schönberg in der Gegenwartskunst,
in welcher Werke von zehn lebenden KünstlerInnen in Reflexion zum Werkkosmos
Arnold Schönbergs gesetzt wurden. Eindrucksvoll zeigte art is: new art die

Understand 85% of the languages with the 1,000 most common words: German, Spanish, Portuguese & Italian at a glance
Language experts like Theodor Lewandowski have come to the conclusion that just 1,000 words of a language are enough to understand 85% of the language. Approximately 2,000 words are required to understand 90% and 4,000 words to understand 95%. Therefore, it makes sense to memorize the 1,000 most common words first so you have a solid foundation on which to build. Many language schools, compulsory schools (including grammar schools) and also learning apps usually do not recommend their students to learn the 1,000 most common words first, but rather concentrate on very unrealistic vocabulary that rarely appear in real life . And so it is no wonder that even after many years of language lessons, many students still cannot understand 20% of a text, let alone speak or write.
Das vierte internationale Symposium am Arnold Schönberg Center widmeten wir Arnold Schönbergs Religiosität und Ethik, seiner jüdischen Identität, den Schriften zum Judentum sowie darauf Bezug nehmenden Kompositionen.

Human sociality is shaped and realized most notably in embodied practices of interpersonal interaction. At the same time, the social nature of human beings is open for cultural influences. This book inspects the foundations of human sociality theoretically drawing on recent debates in sociology, anthropology, and linguistics, and empirically by the example of interactions on the central square of a Wolof village in Northwestern Senegal.
At the end of the 1980s, a group of artist friends began questioning the localization of art. Was art based in the personality of the artist, or in the bohemian society around them, in the theoretical concept or even in the artistic object itself? To Günther Förg, Martin Kippenberger, Albert Oehlen, and Heimo Zobernig it became clear that in the future, concept and context would acquire a previously unknown significance („In the future we will no longer make, only think,“ as Kippenberger put it). A decisive aspect of their discourse was the 1831 novella The Unknown Masterpiece by Honoré de Balzac.
Agricultural and forestry resources have been processed for industrial uses for centuries. They have gained renewed attention every time access to fossil feedstocks was disturbed. The recent drive towards the use of renewable raw materials for commodity production appears to be sustained. The main drivers of this development are resource cost and supply security, environmental issues and economic development of rural areas. Emphasis on the three drivers differs from country to country. For private businesses, the use of renewable raw materials must be profitable. Otherwise investments and commercial operations will not be sustainable. Researching the economics of renewable raw materials is therefore an essential task during the ongoing resource shift in commodities production.
