This PhD thesis focuses on catalysis in many different aspects, ranging from organocatalysis to applications of combined catalysis, relying on an organocatalyst and an additional transition metal catalyst. Furthermore, dual metal catalytic homogeneous catalytic systems have been investigated, which continue with homogeneous hydrogenation reactions. Finally, the work extends to the development of new, robust and highly reactive heterogeneous catalysts.
