En Hasta que pase un huracán, una adolescente de clase media anhela huir de su vida tediosa en una ciudad costera. Lo que no aprendí presenta a una niña que observa a su padre, un abogado que practica lo paranormal, buscando sanar su propia historia a través de su inocente pero lúcida perspectiva. Finalmente, en Educación sexual, se entrelazan ficción autobiográfica y ensayo en un colegio del Opus Dei en el Caribe. Este último revela las conexiones entre los tres relatos: estampas de juventud de mujeres que, con ironía, inteligencia y arrojo, desafían la tradición y los abusos, intentando reinventarse en otros mundos. García Robayo observa el mundo con atención despiadada y naturalidad, sin estar completamente afuera de lo que describe. Su escritura irradia una cruda y cálida irreverencia.
