Life of Pi meets Aesop's Fables - a modern-day fable for adults

Deväťročný Oskar Schell je nádejný vynálezca, hráč na tamburínu, šperkár a pacifista, zbiera fotografie a píše listy vedcom. Jeho otec zahynie 11. septembra 2001 počas teroristického útoku na World Trade Center v New Yorku. Oskar nájde v otcových veciach kľúč s nápisom „Black", a tak si zaumieni pozhovárať sa s každým v meste, koho priezvisko znie rovnako. Dobrodružné hľadanie vedie chlapca cez celý New York, do nie tak dávnej minulosti, a zároveň sa stáva aj cestou jeho dospievania. Poviedky o láske a jej zradách a prekvapeniach. Ženy každého veku a v rôznych životných situáciách, ich priatelia, milenci, rodičia a deti... všetci ľudia, o ktorých Alice Munroová píše, v jej rukách ožívajú. Má vzácny dar – príbehy pôsobia tak skutočne a nezabudnuteľne, ako keby ste ich prežívali na vlastnej koži. Na motívy troch poviedok z tejto zbierky (Šanca, Už čoskoro a Mlčanie) nakrútil španielsky režisér Pedro Almodóvar film Julieta (2016).
