He meets a rubber man, a sword swallower, a fire-eater, a magician, a juggler, a fat lady, two witches, and more. He stays a while because he finds all of these creatures interesting, but eventually he realizes he's landed right in the middle of a feud between rival traveling circus shows. And both shows have their eyes on a new headliner--The Gunsmith. And they'll do anything to get him.

Clint is tracked down by an outlaw who, in his fifties, finds that his gun is slowing down. He wants Clint to use his gunsmithing abilities to make him a new gun, one that will increase his speed and, hopefully, shave a few years off his gun hand. Months later, Clint learns he's been made a fool of. The outlaw is using his newfound speed and accuracy with a gun to settle some old scores-and some new ones. It falls to Clint to stop him, and to see if the outlaw's abilities with a gun match his own.

Clint is in Alban, Louisiana to help his friend, Scott Meyer, mend his law breaker ways by getting married and opening his own business. But while he is there, people are starting to show up not only murdered, but butchered in the most horrible ways imaginable. Before long, the killer—dubbed THE BUTCHER OF THE BAYOU—is becoming more and more blood thirsty and brazen, that the Gunsmith can no longer just stand by and observe. He throws in with the local law and begins tracking the killer down. After a vicious close encounter, it becomes a personal cat-and-mouse game between The Butcher and The Gunsmith, that can only end in blood.

Clint Adams happens upon an idyllic looking town called LITTLE AMSTERDAM, in Minnesota. It was founded by Gustav and Hildegard Vanderhoff, who came from the East, where most of the Dutch settlements and towns appeared. He sees stores he doesn’t usually see in western towns, like a bakery, a candy store, a tea room. However, the town seems so idyllic and peaceful that he gets suspicious. It seems as if the people are being TOO nice to him and he starts to think perhaps they’re covering something up. When he starts to poke around, people obviously get upset, because there’s more than one attempt on his life. He COULD leave town and forget about it, but that ain’t the Gunsmith. He keeps poking, and just has to stay alive long enough to find out the truth.

After a hard stretch on the trail, Clint Adams decides to settle down for awhile in Butte City, Colorado, where the mountains are pretty and so are the women... But this peaceful town has been shaken up by a murderer who strikes during the full moon. And this time the victim is the Gunsmith's new lady-friend. When the townfolk blame an old spiritual ceremony performed by the Ute Indians, he sets out to confront them. What he finds is a steel trap of deceit and intrigue-and every time it tightens its grip, the Gunsmith finds he's much closer to death!

The Gunsmith isn't much inclined to settle down, so when he finds himself saddled with a building and a business after a high-stakes poker game, he makes tracks for Sheldon, Wyoming, to see just what he's won and figure out what to do with it. At first it seems too good to be true: The "business" is a bevy of buxom beauties who work their wiles on the town's menfolk for fun and profit. But a crafty politician doesn't want this enterprise-or Clint Adams-to prosper. And when a hired gunslinger rides in to do his bidding, the Gunsmith has a full-time job just staying alive...

Roxy Doyle is contacted by Allan Pinkerton's son, Robert, of the famed Pinkerton Agency, who requests that she go undercover in San Francisco's Barbary Coast in a place that has come to be known as The Shanghai Saloon. Since she was recommended to Pinkerton by Clint Adams, the Gunsmith, she decides to take the job. She ends up working as a saloon girl, and is on the lookout for a gang who has been shanghaiing men at an alarming rate. When one man is killed rather than taken, the job becomes one that might even threaten her own life.

THE GUNSMITH Clint Adams has never spent much time in Chicago, but on this trip it didn't take him long to find trouble. First, he entered the office of a private investigator to deliver a message and walked into a bloodbath. Then, he got caught in the middle of a murder attempt on the great scout and showman, Buffalo Bill Cody. It seems like a crazed killer is on the loose on the streets of rough-and-tumble Chicago-or maybe two. There's only one thing for certain: the madman who tried to kill Buffalo Bill is going to try again, but first he wants to get rid of the man who stopped him before...the Gunsmith, Clint Adams!

Roxy receives a message from Robert Pinkerton who says her father has been spotted near Blackhawk, Colorado. Roxy goes there, arriving broke and discovers there's a circus in town sponsoring a sharpshooting contest, with a first prize of $500. If she could win, the money would fund her search for her father for months. The attraction in the contest is the circus's own sharpshooter, Bill Weatherly. While in Blackhawk, competing in the contest, someone takes a shot at her. It turns out later that there's a man traveling with the circus who is hiding out because he heard Gavin Doyle was on his trail. When he realizes Roxy is a Doyle, he thinks she's working with her father. Roxy meets the odd characters who work with the circus, while attempting to find out who wants her dead and also trying to win the $500.
