Zaväzuje preto Frankensteina, aby mu stvoril jemu podobnú ženu. Tvorca svoj sľub nesplní a netvor zo zúfalstva a hnevu zabije Frankensteinovu manželku. Román sa končí tragicky – netvor prosí svojho tvorcu o odpustenie až nad jeho hrobom, zatiaľ čo on sám zomiera.

Dielo malo byť pôvodne paródiou na rytierske romány. Chudobný zeman Don Quijote, pomätený čítaním rytierskych románov, chce obnoviť starodávne potulné rytierstvo a vydá sa na cestu, aby konal hrdinské činy.
