Before Girls Grew Breasts: Enchanted stories from an Irish childhood
    • 2018

Before Girls Grew Breasts is a collection of stories set in Howth, a pretty peninsula outside Dublin City, that begin at the age of five years old and end in early teenhood. Written in Townsend's late teens, the stories are a tongue in cheek approach to family life and the events we go through to become adults. They involve comedic and brutally honest tales around the events and patterns we go through as children and each story touches on the archetypal journey of children as they come of age. While the tales are set in Ireland, many of the themes and characters are universal. Before Girls Grew Breasts is set in a peculiar, celebrated Irish family. The storylines revolve around my father, Peter Townsend a professional golfer, mother Lorna Townsend, a prestigious model, older brother Stuart Townsend, an actor in Hollywood, and fiery younger sister Chloe Townsend.
