Otto Ovid

Publius Ovidius Naso, známy ako Ovidius, bol rímsky básnik, ktorého diela v elegických dvojveršiach ovplyvnili západné umenie a literatúru. Jeho básne, najmä zbierky ľúbostnej poézie a rozsiahle mytologické rozprávanie v pätnástich knihách, boli hojne napodobňované a zostávajú dôležitým zdrojom klasickej mytológie. Ovidius, tradične zaraďovaný medzi najvýznamnejších latinských básnikov, bol vo svojej dobe veľmi populárny, no z neznámych dôvodov bol cisárom Augustom poslaný do vyhnanstva. Aj vo svojom vyhnanstve pokračoval v písaní, kde vznikli elegie vo forme listov, ktoré dodnes fascinujú svojou naliehavosťou a literárnou krásou.
