This work is an ode to the city and the urban task, advocating for a return to the fundamentals of urban planning. It emphasizes the importance of placing public space at the core of urban design and encourages looking beyond mere monetary value. Above all, it calls for a loving and context-aware approach to city development, ensuring the city remains exemplary. Groningen is highlighted as a pivotal case study, as the authors have devoted their passion to this city. Urban planner Jeroen de Willigen served as city architect there for six years, providing the framework for this publication. Notably, few cities in the Netherlands tell their story as completely and uniquely as Groningen.
