Bis zu seiner Emeritierung lehrte John Barth lange Jahre Literatur an der Johns Hopkins Universität in Baltimore. Zu seinen bekanntesten Werken gehören 'Der Tabakhändler' sowie 'Ambrose im Juxhaus'. Bei Liebeskind erschien bisher 'Die schwimmende Oper' (2001). Der Übersetzer Matthias Müller wurde 1950 in Bremen geboren und lebt heute in Rotterdam. Aus dem Englischen übersetzte er u. a. Werke von Don DeLillo, John Cheever und Breyten Breytenbach.
