Ernst Cassirer bol kľúčovou postavou filozofického idealizmu v prvej polovici 20. storočia. Vzišiel z Marburskej tradície novokantizmu a rozvinul filozofiu kultúry ako teóriu symbolov, založenú na fenomenológii poznania.
