Mario Vargas Llosa celým menom Jorge Mario Pedro Vargas Llosa (* 28. marec 1936 Arequipa, Peru ) je peruánsky prozaik – románopisec. Vo svojich dielach opisuje prostredie rodného Peru, jeho sociálny profil v prostrediach mesta, vidieka a prírody. Jeho dielo bolo ocenené v roku 2010 Nobelovou cenou za literatúru.Bol tiež aktívny v peruánskej politike. Jeho politické názory sa pohybovali medzi komunizmom a liberalizmom. Podporoval kubánsky režim Fidela Castra. V roku 1990 kandidoval za prezidenta vo voľbách za politickú pravo-stredovú formáciu v Peru – el Frente Democrático (FREDEMO). Je to španielsky píšuci autor.
