    Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock bol nemecký básnik, významný predstaviteľ hnutia senzibility. Svojím dielom dal nemeckému jazyku nové impulzy a je považovaný za predchodcu nasledujúcej generácie nemeckých autorov. Klopstock ako prvý použil v nemeckej poézii hexameter vo svojom diele „Mesiáš“ a jeho skúmanie „nemeckého hexametra“ viedlo k jeho učeniu o slovnom takte. Tým pripravil cestu pre voľné rytmy, ktoré neskôr využívali napríklad Johann Wolfgang von Goethe a Friedrich Hölderlin.
