Jürgen Paas greift mit seinen Arbeiten formal Elemente der Minimal Art auf. Dabei verbindet er Systematik und Ordnung mit Zufall und Regellosigkeit: Auf die Wand gemalte, geklebte und montierte geometrische Formen wie Kreis, Rechteck und Quadrat geben eine mathematische Klarheit vor, bilden in ihrem Zusammenspiel aber rhythmische, variantenreiche und sinnliche Installationen. Der Katalog stellt neue Arbeiten der letzten Jahre vor, darunter auch die Werkgruppen »Jukebox« und »Target«, bei denen Paas aus farbigen PVC-Bändern und Alurollen großformatige, dreidimensionale Wandobjekte schafft.

Formally Jürgen Paas takes up elements of minimal art in his works. He couples the systematic and the ordered with coincidence and disorder: Geometric forms such as circles, rectangles and squares painted, pasted and mounted on the wall simulate mathematical clarity but in their interplay they form rhythmic, diverse and sensual installations. Since 1995 he has been making so-called colour archives containing up to 250 metal tiles in galvanised steel frames with one colour painted on each tile. The sequence and order of the colour tiles is not predetermined but can theoretically be varied as much as one likes, yielding a multitude of conceivable colour combinations.
