Luisa Valenzuela je autorkou post-boomového obdobia, ktorá písala novely a poviedky. Jej tvorba sa vyznačuje experimentálnym, avantgardným štýlom, ktorý z feministickej perspektívy spochybňuje hierarchické spoločenské štruktúry. Najviac ju preslávila jej práca napísaná v reakcii na diktatúru v Argentíne v 70. rokoch.
