The book explores a novel theory of unconventional superconductivity influenced by spin excitations, utilizing the Hubbard Hamiltonian. It examines the complex relationship between magnetism and superconductivity across various unconventional superconductors. A significant focus is placed on the application of this theory to Cooper-pairing via spin fluctuation exchange, particularly in the context of singlet pairing in both hole- and electron-doped high-temperature superconductors.

This book presents a theory for unconventional superconductivity driven by spin excitations. Using the Hubbard Hamiltonian and a self-consistent treatment of the spin excitations, the interplay between magnetism and superconductivity in various unconventional superconductors is discussed. In particular, the monograph applies this theory for Cooper-pairing due to the exchange of spin fluctuations to the case of singlet pairing in hole- and electron-doped high- T c superconductors, and to triplet pairing in Sr 2 RuO 4 . Within the framework of a generalized Eliashberg-like treatment, calculations of both many normal and superconducting properties as well as elementary excitations are performed. The results are related to the phase diagrams of the materials which reflect the interaction between magnetism and superconductivity.

Spätestens seit dem so genannten Krieg gegen den Terror verzeichnen Fragen nach der Funktionsweise von Hass im Alltag wie in der Wissenschaft eine, wenn auch zweifelhafte, Konjunktur. Die moderne Soziologie scheint hierzu jedoch schweigen zu müssen, da sie über kein elaboriertes Hasskonzept verfügt. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist daher die Entwicklung erster Grundlagen für einen soziologischen Zugriff auf die Emotion Hass. Dazu werden verschiedene Hasskonzepte aus den geisteswissenschaftlichen Nachbardisziplinen aufeinander bezogen und ihre Gemeinsamkeiten herausgearbeitet. Ferner wird unter Rückgriff auf Thesen Charles Horton Cooleys und den Social Identity Approach eine Verknüpfung zwischen dem Hass und dem Selbst sowie eine Triangulation des Hasses, des Selbst und der Gruppe versucht. Kernthese der Arbeit ist ein Verständnis von Hass als besondere Form der Verteidigung gegen existentielle Bedrohungen des Selbst. Diese Arbeit wurde mit dem Studienpreis der Halleschen Soziologie ausgezeichnet.
